Fur XT Tablet 15’s belongs to a class of medications called ‘haematinics’ primarily used to treat anaemia (deficiency of iron and haemoglobin).
Its deficiency occurs mainly due to poor diet, poor absorption of food or increased folate use in the body (in pregnancy).
Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells for carrying the adequate oxygen required to various body tissues.
Fur XT Tablet 15’s is a combination of two drugs, namely: Elemental Iron and Folic acid. Elemental iron helps with the transportation of oxygen throughout the body and the production of red blood cells.
Folic acid works by boosting the production of red blood cells (RBC) in the body. Together, Fur XT Tablet 15’s helps treat anaemia.
Take Fur XT Tablet 15’s as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Fur XT Tablet 15’s for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending upon your medical condition.
You may experience constipation, dry mouth, loss of appetite, bloating, diarrhoea in some cases. Most of these side effects of Fur XT Tablet 15’s do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
Do not take Fur XT Tablet 15’s if you are allergic to iron, folic acid or any of the ingredients of Fur XT Tablet 15’s. Do not start taking any new medication without telling your doctor.
Fur XT Tablet 15’s is generally safe to consume during pregnancy and lactation. However, talk to your doctor if you have any concerns.

Fur XT Tablet 15’s is a combination drug containing or ‘haematinics’ primarily used to treat anaemia (deficiency of red blood cells and haemoglobin). During pregnancy, the demand for iron and folic acid in the body is increased, therefore Fur XT Tablet 15’s acts as a supplement in pregnancy.
It also helps the body produce and maintain new cells, prevents the DNA from mutating, leading to cancer. Fur XT Tablet 15’s contains Elemental Iron and Folic acid (haematinics combination), which works by boosting the production of red blood cells (RBC) and haemoglobin in the body.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Fur XT Tablet 15’s is known to interact with medicines used to treat rheumatoid arthritis (penicillamine, sulfasalazine), blood cholesterol (cholestyramine), Parkinson’s disease (levodopa, carbidopa), thyroid disease (thyroxine), bone disease (bisphosphonates), certain cancers (aminopterin, methotrexate), malaria (pyrimethamine), Wilson’s disease (trientine), antibiotics (cotrimoxazole, chloramphenicol, tetracyclines).
Drug-Food Interaction: Fur XT Tablet 15’s should not be taken along with alcohol, dairy products, and eggs as it might affect Fur-XT Tablet 15’s absorption in the body.
Drug-Disease Interaction: Fur XT Tablet 15’s is known to interact if you have or ever had a stomach ulcer, vitamin B12 deficiency, any blood disorder, repeated blood transfusions, ulcerative colitis (inflammation of the colon), anaemia, folate tumour.

You are recommended not to consume alcohol along with Fur-XT Tablet 15’s to avoid unpleasant side-effects.
Fur-XT Tablet 15’s is safe if prescribed by a doctor but always take it in the dose and duration prescribed by a doctor.
Fur-XT Tablet 15’s is not recommended during breastfeeding as it may affect the baby. Talk to your doctor if you have any concerns.
Fur-XT Tablet 15’sis not known to affect driving ability.
Fur-XT Tablet 15’s to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of liver disease. The dose may have to be adjusted by your doctor.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise
- Eat a healthy diet, especially green leafy vegetables, and do regular physical exercise.
- Limit the consumption of alcohol, junk food items from outside and stick to freshly prepared home-cooked meals.
- Increase intake of fruits in your diet especially fruits rich in iron like pomegranate, citrus fruits.
- Fur-XT Tablet 15’s can cause dry mouth, so drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated.
- Avoid taking Fur-XT Tablet 15’s along with diary products, coffee, alcohol, and eggs.
- Constantly monitor your blood iron or haemoglobin level.

How to manage side effects:
Feeling sick (nausea):
Take these tablets with, or just after, a meal or snack to ease feelings of sickness. If you’re pregnant, it could be morning sickness that’s making you feel sick.
Bloating or wind:
Eat smaller and more frequent meals, eat and drink slowly, and exercise regularly. If the symptoms get worse, contact your doctor straight away.
Eat more high-fibre foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables and cereals, and drink plenty of water. Try to exercise more regularly, for example, by going for a daily walk or run.
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or squash, to avoid dehydration. Do not take any other medicines to treat diarrhoea without speaking to a doctor.
Dark or black stools:
This is common when taking iron and is nothing to worry about. Talk to a doctor if your stool is black and sticky looking, has red streaks in it, or if you also feel unwell in any other way.

I missed a dose of Fur-XT Tablet, what should I do?
If you have missed a dose by chance, try to take it as soon as possible when you notice. However, if the time is closer to your next dosage, simply skip the dosage. In such cases, donot try to take the double dosage.

It is recommended not to take Fur-XT Tablet 15’s along with tea, coffee, milk or eggs as the body might absorb less iron supplements if you take them together, which may reduce the effectiveness of Fur-XT Tablet 15’s.
What is the best time to take Fur-XT Tablet 15’s?
Fur-XT Tablet 15’s is best absorbed if taken on an empty stomach. But in some patients, it causes an upset stomach if taken on an empty stomach. So, please take it as suggested by your doctor if you have an upset stomach problem.
Why is it necessary to take Fur-XT Tablet 15’s when you are pregnant?
If you are pregnant, it is necessary to maintain the right level of folic acid to reduce the risk of neural tube defects as the baby’s central nervous system develops.
