ISORDIL 5MG is used to

Relieve the pain and frequency of angina attacks
Control certain types of heart failure

INTERACTIONS:

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken following medicines,

Noradrenaline (norepinephrine) to treat high blood pressure or heart attack
Acetylcholine used in some operations
Medicines to treat high blood pressure such as calcium channel blockers (e.g. nifedipine)
Tricyclic antidepressants (e.g. amitriptyline)
Phenothiazines (e.g. chlorpromazine) to treat mental illness
Histamine to treat allergies
Sildenafil, tadalafil or vardenafil, used to treat male erection dysfunction

DIRECTIONS & FOR USE:

Always take ISORDIL 5MG exactly as your doctor has told you
Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water
Adults

Angina: 30-120mg daily in divided doses
Heart failure: 40-160mg daily in divided doses
The maximum daily dose is 240mg in divided doses

If you take more ISORDIL 5MG

If you take more ISORDIL 5MG, contact your nearest hospital casualty department or tell your doctor immediately

If you forget to take ISORDIL 5MG

Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you forget to take a dose take it as soon as you remember it and then take the next dose at the right time

If you stop taking ISORDIL 5MG

Do not stop using ISORDIL 5MG without consulting your doctor

Keep out of the reach of children
Store at room temperature (15-25°C)
Do not use ISORDIL 5MG after the expiry date

Isordil 5 Sublingual tablet is used to prevent chest pain (angina attacks). It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels so blood can flow more easily to the heart. These tablets will not treat an angina attack that has already begun.

Isordil 5 Sublingual tablet must be taken in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. Place the tablet under the tongue or between the cheek and gum, and let it dissolve. It is usually taken as needed, either 5 to 10 minutes before physical activities or at the first sign of angina. You should take the medicine as it is prescribed for you and keep taking it, even if you feel well. If you stop taking it suddenly your risk of an angina attack will increase. Lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, and not smoking may help this drug work better.

You can develop tolerance to this medicine over time, which means that the same dose becomes less effective. You have to stick to a really specific dosing schedule to prevent this from happening.

The most common side effects of this medicine include headache and lightheadedness. These may disappear once you have got used to the medicine. WHAT IF YOU FORGET TO TAKE ISORDIL SUBLINGUAL TABLET?

If you miss a dose of Isordil  Sublingual tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
