NICODUCE OD contains Nicorandil which belongs to a group of medicines known as potassium-channel activators which works by increasing the blood flow through the blood vessels of the heart. It is used to prevent and treat long-term chest pain (angina). Angina is a type of chest pain often described as squeezing, pressure, heaviness, tightness or pain in your chest due to reduced blood flow to the heart. NICODUCE OD used to treat angina and also reduces acute coronary events in high risk stable angina patients.

Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have low blood pressure or heart problems. Do not take any medicines for erectile dysfunction. It is not recommended for use in children and breastfeeding women. Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The dose you take will depend on your age, other medications you are taking and whether you have any kidney or liver problems. The common side effects are headache, dizziness, weakness and irregular heartbeat.

COMMON

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Dizziness:

Get up and move around to feel awake, take small naps to edge off the sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid fatigue and eat a healthy food to boost energy.

Feeling sick (nausea) or indigestion:

Stick to simple normal meals and do not eat rich or spicy foods.

INTERACTIONS

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following:

• Sildenafil, tadalafil or vardenafil (used for impotence)
• Hydralazine, minoxidil or nitroprusside (vasodilators)
• Medicines for high blood pressure, depression
• Prednisolone

Nicoduce OD 10mg Tablet may be taken with or without food. It should be swallowed whole with water. Take this medicine regularly and at about the same time(s) each day.
Your doctor will decide the dose and how often you should take it.

This may change from time to time depending on how well it is working.
Do not stop taking it without talking to our doctor as sudden withdrawal may cause your chest pain to come back.

Most common side effect

The most common side effect of this medicine is headache, especially during the first few days of treatment. This usually improves within a week.
However,  drinking plenty of fluids and avoiding alcohol may help. Other common side effects include dizziness or weakness, nausea, and flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck, and trunk).
Talk to your doctor if these bother you or do not go away.

Nicoduce OD 10mg Tablet may not be suitable for some people. Inform your doctor if you have a history of low blood pressure or heart failure.
Also let your doctor know about all other medications that you are using as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

You should not take any medicines for erectile dysfunction with this medicine.
It is not usually recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Alcohol

Driving

Kidney

It is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Nicoduce OD 10mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Liver

WHAT IF YOU FORGET TO TAKE NICODUCE TABLET?

If you miss a dose of Nicoduce OD 10mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
