Rabeprazole is a drug which leads to lower acid production in the stomach. It belongs to a family of drugs called proton pump inhibitors. This medication will however not give immediate relief from heartburn.

Rabeprazole is prescribed for people with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and other similar conditions characterized by excessive amount of acid production in the stomach such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
