crema gel
CREMA 2% contains diltiazem which belongs to a group of medicines called calcium-channel blockers. It is used to promote healing and reduce the pain in anal fissure. An anal fissure is a small cut or tear that has occurred in the skin inside your anus. Symptoms may include severe and sharp pain, irritation and tenderness. Certain fissures may heal quickly, while others can take several months to heal.
Local application of crema gel 2% causes inhibition of extracellular calcium influx across the smooth muscle cell membranes present on the application site (anus). This reduced intracellular calcium concentrations will increase muscle relaxation and reduces pressure and increases blood flow to the area to allow healing to occur.
The most common side effects of taking this medicine are headache, light-headedness or dizziness, local itching, soreness or rectal bleeding. Your doctor will let you know how long you should continue treatment for. In most cases this will be for six to eight weeks. Apply the gel just inside and around the anus (back passage) as instructed by your doctor. A finger covering such as cling film, disposable glove or finger cot may be used to apply the gel.
