Xidorin
XIDORIN contains Midodrine which belongs to the group of medicines called alpha-1 adrenergic agonist. It is used to treat low blood pressure in adults when other treatments have not worked. Symptoms of low blood pressure includes dizziness or lightheadedness, fainting, blurred vision, nausea, fatigue or lack of concentration.
Midodrine is a prodrug of deglymidodrine. It increases your blood pressure by enhancing smooth muscle tone leading to vasoconstriction of blood vessels. Prior to the treatment, your doctor would check your kidney function and blood pressure to access your condition. During the treatment, regular monitoring of your blood pressure while you are lying down or standing up will be required.
The most common side effects of taking this medicine are high blood pressure, chest pain, increased heartbeat, shortness of breath, headache and blurred vision. Contact your doctor immediately, if you experience any of these symptoms. It is always important that you do not take this medicine late in the evening. Try to take your last daily dose at least 4 hours before bedtime. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any other heart disease or kidney disease. This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women and in children less than 18 years of age.

HOW XIDORIN WORKS
Midodrine is converted to its active metabolite, deglymidodrine which binds to and activates alpha1-adrenergic receptors present in the blood vessels, which enhances smooth muscle tone, leading to peripheral vasoconstriction and elevation of blood pressure.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take this medicine as directed by your physician. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your condition. Continue to take this medicine, as long as your doctor tells you to do so, to obtain better results.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Feeling sick (nausea):
Try taking this medicine with, or just after meal. Stick to simple meals. Do not eat rich or spicy food.
Scalp itching:
Avoid hot showers or baths because hot water can irritate the scalp. Do not rub or scratch the affected area.
Headache:
Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Do not drink too much alcohol.

- Medicines used to treat thyroid disorders (e.g. levothyroxine)
- Medicines used to treat depression (e.g. fluoxetine, sertraline, amitriptyline)
- Medicines which relieve nasal congestion relievers (e.g. dexamethasone)
- Medicines that narrow blood vessels (e.g. phenylephrine, dopamine)
- Sympathomimetic agents (e.g. ephedrine)
- Steroids (used to treat inflammation) e.g. fludrocortisone acetate

PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Xidorin Tablet can be taken with or without food. This medicine is taken during daytime hours when people stand most often. But, it should not be taken if you are going to lie down for a long time after the dose. You should always take this medicine as advised by the doctor and should never stop it without consulting the doctor. You should monitor your blood pressure regularly while taking this medicine.
Common side effects of this medicine include headache, nausea, rash, and difficulty in urination. Consult your doctor if these side effects bother you. It may also cause supine hypertension, it is increase in your blood pressure while lying down.
Before taking this medicine, it is better to let your doctor know if you are suffering from any kidney or liver disease. Also, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should consult doctor before taking it. You must inform doctor about all the other medicines that you are taking apart from this medicine. Your doctor may ask for monitoring of kidney and liver function before and during the treatment with this medicine.
