Auxitrol Capsule
WHAT IS AUXITROL?
Auxitrol Capsule contains Calcitriol which belongs to a group of medicines called ?vitamin D metabolites?
It works by making your body absorb more calcium from your diet. This helps to form healthy bones and reduce bone damage
WHAT AUXITROL IS USED FOR?
Auxitrol Capsule is used to:
Treat bone disease in people with kidney problems (renal osteodystrophy)
Prevent or treat weakening of the bones in women after the menopause (change of life)
TALK TO DOCTOR:
Talk to your Doctor before taking Auxitrol Capsule, if you:
Are allergic to Calcitriol or to any of the other ingredients of AUXITROL
Have high levels of calcium in your blood (hypercalcaemia)
Have extra deposits of calcium in your body (metastatic calcification)
Are finding it difficult to move about (for example, after an operation)
Have kidney problems (the doctor may need to monitor the phosphate levels in your blood and diet)
WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS:
PREGNANCY & BREAST FEEDING
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking AUXITROL
INTERACTIONS
Tell your doctor if you are taking,
Other medicines containing vitamin D
Diuretics such as bendroflumethiazide, chlortalidone and indapamide (used to treat high blood pressure)
Medicines like digoxin or digitoxin (used to treat heart disease)
Medicines containing magnesium, such as antacids (used to treat indigestion)
Steroid medicines, such as hydrocortisone, prednisolone and dexamethasone (used to relieve inflammation)
Cholestyramine (used to treat high levels of cholesterol in your blood)
Phosphates
DIRECTIONS & FOR USE
Always take AUXITROL exactly as your doctor has told you
SIDE EFFECTS OF AUXITROL:
RARE
Like all medicines, Auxitrol Capsule can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them
SERIOUS
If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effect not listed below, please tell your doctor immediately
Very high levels of calcium in your blood may lead to high temperature (fever), feeling thirsty, dehydration, passing more water than normal, wetting the bed, constipation, stomach pain, blockage of the bowel and an uneven heart beat
Infections in the bladder
Mental problems
Deposits of calcium in areas other than your bone (for example ?kidney stones?)
Allergic reactions such as itchy skin, skin rashes and reddening of the skin (which may be severe)
STORAGE
Keep out of reach of children
Do not use after the expiry date
Store at room temperature (15-25?C)
