ABOUT THE DRUG:

Desowen Cream active constituent is dexamethasone. It belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. It may be used to treat symptoms such as inflammation, certain immune disorders and in replacement therapy of an inactive or underactive adrenal gland.

It is prescribed for skin allergies, asthma, leukaemia, blood disorders, selected rheumatic disorders (pain in the joints, muscles or connective tissue), gastrointestinal disorders (such as inflammatory bowel disease), skin problems, certain abnormal growths (cancers) and excessive calcium in the blood.

USES OF THE DRUG:

Desowen Cream is prescribed for the treatment of skin inflammation, allergy, ulcerative colitis along with several other problems

WORKING OF THE DRUG:

The active constituent of the medicine Dexamethasone (dose pack) is a corticosteroid. It works by decreasing or preventing tissues from responding to inflammation. Desowen Cream also modifies the body’s response to certain immune stimulation.

DEXAMETHASONE:

Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid that prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. It is used to treat many different inflammatory conditions such as allergic disorders, skin conditions, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, or breathing disorders.

DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG IF YOU:

You are allergic to any ingredient in dexamethasone tablets (dose pack)
You have a systemic fungal infection
You are taking mifepristone

HOW MUCH TO TAKE THE DRUG?

The dosage depends upon your weight, age, your medical history and your response to the treatment. Therefore, the correct dose will be decided by your doctor. Take the dose exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Never take two tablets at one time to double the dose.

HOW TO TAKE THE DRUG?

Use Dexamethasone tablets (dose pack) as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions. Take decmax tablets (dose pack) by mouth with food. Unless otherwise directed by your prescriber, follow the instructions on the pack for taking this medication.

FOR HOW LONG TO TAKE IT?

How long depends on your condition and response to the treatment.

Do not stop taking it suddenly as your symptoms may worsen, return or in cases of long term use, withdrawal symptoms may be experienced (corticosteroid withdrawal syndrome).

OVERDOSE:

In case of an overdose, call your doctor immediately, or get emergency medical attention.

MISS DOSE:

If you miss a dose of decmax-4mg, then take it as soon as you remember. Never take the missed dose if the time to take the next dose is almost up. Taking multiple doses at almost the same time can lead to excess medication in your body which can be harmful.

SIDE EFFECTS OF DESOWEN CREAM 10GM:

COMMON

Diarrhea
Nausea
Vomiting
Dizziness
Constipation
Dry mouth

If any of these effects continuing for a long time or the condition become uncontrolled, contact your prescriber as soon as possible.

COMMON DRUG INTERACTIONS:

You must let your doctor know about your medical history in advance and always take the list of all medications with you, which you may be using, especially these ones: Aspirin, hydrochlorothiazide, warfarin, ketoconazole, cyclosporine, rifampin, phenytoin, phenobarbital, insulin.However, this is not a complete information as mentioning all the details for this drug is quite difficult. There may be other medications that may show interactions. Never start a new medication with consulting your health care specialist.

THINGS TO REMEMBER:

Do not use this medication for any other disease without consulting with the doctor
Do not share this medicine with anyone else, even if they have similar symptoms as you are having
In case you do not feel better and cured after completing the medication prescribed by your doctor, then consult your doctor immediately
Store the medicine at room temperature. Do not freeze it
