Cognidep-10mg Tablet 15’s belongs to the group of medicines called ‘anti-Alzheimer’s drug’, primarily indicated in the treatment of dementia of the Alzheimer’s disease.
In Alzheimer’s disease, the brain cells degenerate and die, which causes a gradual decline in behavioural and social skills and thinking ability (dementia), which affects a person’s ability to function independently. The signs include confusion, increasing memory loss, and behavioural changes.
Cognidep-10mg Tablet 15’s contains Donepezil that falls in the category of drugs called acetylcholinesterase inhibitors.
This drug increases the levels of a substance (acetylcholine) in the brain, which is involved in improving memory functioning by slowing down the breakdown of acetylcholine (a substance that allows nerves to communicate and important for normal brain functioning).
Take Cognidep-10mg Tablet 15’s with or without a meal, every day as suggested by your doctor. A person taking Cognidep-10mg Tablet 15’s may experience some undesirable effects of this medicine like insomnia, diarrhoea, muscle cramps, vomiting, fatigue, weight loss, and nausea.
This happens because the body is adjusting to the new medicine. If a person notices severe side effects of medicine like dizziness, constipation, drowsiness, fainting, frequent urination, headache, joint pain, mental depression, and pain, or if side effects do not go within a couple of days, then they need to consult with the doctor immediately.
A person cannot take Cognidep-10mg Tablet 15’s if they are hypersensitive to any of the components present in this medicine. A person facing medical conditions like a heart rhythm disorder, a stomach ulcer, urination problems, asthma or other breathing disorder, seizure, and liver or kidney disease need to tell their doctor before taking this medicine.
A woman who is pregnant or breastfeeding needs to tell their doctor before taking this medicine. This medicine should be prescribed with caution in patients having a history of asthma or obstructive pulmonary disease.

The possible drugs that can interact with Cognidep-10mg Tablet 15’s include NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen, naproxen), antihistamine (Diphenhydramine), anticoagulant medication (apixaban), anticholinergics medicines, (tolterodine), and anti-depressants (fluoxetine).
Drug- Food Interactions: Food will not influence the effect of Cognidep-10mg Tablet 15’s, but a person should not be taken with alcohol because alcohol may reduce its effect.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. ORS should be used to prevent dehydration.
Drowsiness or dizziness:
Get up and move around to feel awake, take small naps to edge off the sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid fatigue and eat a healthy food to boost energy.
Vomiting:
Drink clear or ice-cold drinks. Eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, greasy, or sweet foods.
Constipation:
Eat fruits, vegetables whole grains and high fiber rich foods.
Feeling sick (nausea) or indigestion:
Stick to simple normal meals and do not eat rich or spicy foods.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate machinery while taking this medicine, since it may cause tiredness, dizziness and muscle cramp.
ALCOHOL
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with COGNIDEP 10.
KIDNEY
COGNIDEP 10 should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
LIVER
COGNIDEP 10 should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
ALLERGY
Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Donepezil or any ingredients of this medicine.
HEART DISEASE
COGNIDEP 10 should be used with caution in patients suffering from active heart diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
OTHERS
Tell your doctor if you had or have a condition such as:

INTERACTIONS
