Folvite Tablet 45’s belongs to a class of medications called ‘vitamins‘ used to treat or prevent anaemia (lack of blood) caused due to deficiency of folic acid, anaemia in pregnancy, anaemia due to damaged red blood cells, anaemia in kidney dialysis patients and anaemia that occurs as a side effect of certain medicines.
Folvite Tablet 45’s may be used in women before and during pregnancy to prevent spina bifida (abnormality of the spine) in babies. Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells for carrying the adequate oxygen required to various body tissues.
The Folvite Tablet 45’s contains Folic acid (a form of vitamin B9) that increases healthy red blood cells (RBC) production in the body that carries oxygen throughout the body.
As a result, an adequate amount of haemoglobin (Hb) is produced in the body, so that body’s each tissue gets a sufficient supply of oxygen.
Take Folvite Tablet 45’s as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Folvite Tablet 45’s for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition.
You may experience nausea, black stool, constipation, loss of appetite, bloating or flatulence (gas) in some cases. Most of these side effects of Folvite Tablet 45’s do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Folvite Tablet 45’s or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before using Folvite Tablet 45’s.
Folvite Tablet 45’s should be used with caution in children and only if prescribed by a doctor. If you have an allergy to any sugars, inform your doctor before taking Folvite Tablet 45’s as it may contain lactose.

The Folvite Tablet 45’s contains Folic acid (a form of vitamin B9) that increases red blood cells (RBC) production in the body that carries oxygen around the body. As a result, an adequate number of RBCs is produced in the body, so that body’s each tissue gets a sufficient supply of oxygen.
Also, folic acid is necessary for pregnancy as it plays a role in developing the brain and spinal cord in the unborn baby. Additionally, Folvite Tablet 45’s may be used to decrease the adverse effects of methotrexate (a drug used to treat severe arthritis, psoriasis, or Crohn’s disease).
Directions for Use
Take Folvite Tablet 45’s with or without food as advised by your doctor. The tablet form of Folvite Tablet 45’s should be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it.

If you are allergic to Folvite Tablet 45’s or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Avoid taking Folvite Tablet 45’s if you have cancer. If you have pernicious anaemia (anaemia due to lack of vitamin B12), tumour or if you are receiving a stent in the heart or undergoing haemodialysis due to kidney failure, inform your doctor before taking Folvite Tablet 45’s.
You are recommended to maintain a time gap of a minimum of 2 hours between taking Folvite Tablet 45’s and indigestion remedies such as antacids containing magnesium or aluminium and edible clay. Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interaction: Folvite Tablet 45’s may have interaction with anticonvulsants (phenobarbital, primidone, phenytoin), antibiotics (trimethoprim), high cholesterol-lowering medicine (cholestyramine), anti-inflammatory drug (sulfasalazine), anticancer drug (fluorouracil).
Drug- Food Interaction: Inform your doctor if you are taking any zinc supplements or medicines containing zinc.
Drug-Disease Interaction: Avoid taking Folvite Tablet 45’s if you have cancer. - Eat a healthy diet, especially green leafy vegetables, and do regular physical exercise.
- Limit junk food items from outside and stick to freshly prepared home-cooked meals.
- Eat cabbage, spinach, broccoli, asparagus, kale, brussels sprouts, lentils, peas, and beans. Also include beef and yeast extracts, poultry, liver, shellfish, and pork.
- Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.
- Avoid consumption of alcohol.

WHAT IS FOLVITE?
FOLVITE contains an active ingredient called folic acid
Folvite 5mg Tablet is a folic acid supplement. It is used to treat a type of anemia where you have too few red blood cells because you have too little folic acid in your body. Folic acid is needed to produce the red blood cells that carry oxygen around your body.
Folvite 5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food. Take it regularly and at the same time each day to get maximum benefits.
Take it as a whole, do not break, chew, or crush them. Your doctor will decide the doses you need depending on the severity of your condition. It may help to eat a well-balanced diet that has enough folic acid, iron, vitamins, and minerals.
This medicine is generally well tolerated with little or no side effects. However, it may cause abdominal distension, flatulence, nausea, and weight loss in some people.
While on treatment with this medicine, you may need to take blood tests to check your blood cells and iron levels, monitor your progress, and check for side effects.
Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have any medical conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, asthma or other allergies, or high blood pressure.
Let your doctor also know all the other medicines you are taking. It may be advisable to limit alcohol while on treatment with this medicine.
