ABOUT THE DRUG:
Artesunate is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in Falcigo Injection. Artesunate is a part of the artemisinin group of drugs that treats malaria. It is a semi-synthetic derivative of artemisinin and because this drug is water soluble, it is available in the form of an injection.
USES OF THE DRUG:
Artesunate is used to treat chloroquine resistant malaria and complicated malaria like cerebral malaria. This medicine is used to treat malaria that is caused by chloroquinestains of Plasmodium falciparum. It can easily and quickly control the acute attack of malaria. Artesunate Injection is indicated for the treatment of serious malaria infections.
WORKING OF THE DRUG:
Artesunate belongs to a class of medications called anti-malarials. It has an excellent anti-malarial activity in the asexual forms of malaria parasites which shows rapid and a high efficiency to bring about rapid control of an acute attack. This drug acts by producing free radicals which kill the malarial parasite and thus cures malaria.

HOW MUCH TO TAKE THE DRUG?
The dosage depends upon your age, weight, medical condition and your response to the treatment. Therefore, your doctor will decide the dose. Take the dose exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Do not double the dose.
HOW TO TAKE THE DRUG?
The drug is available in the form of an injection. Artesunate injection comes in a sterile liquid form to be injected intravenously that is in a vein or intramuscularly that is into a muscle. It should be administered in a dose of 60 mg once daily for 5-7 days for a course. If you are taking this medicament at home, use this drug exactly as directed by your doctor.
FOR HOW LONG TO TAKE IT?
You should take the dose until you finish the prescribed dose. Do not change and stop the dose even if you feel better. You should complete the prescribed dose.
OVERDOSE:
In case of an overdose, get emergency medical attention or call the doctor immediately.
MISS DOSE:
If you miss a dose of Artesunate, then take it as soon as you remember. Never take the missed dose if the time to take the next dose is almost up. Taking multiple doses at almost the same time can lead to excess medication in your body which can be harmful.
