Monlevo Junior Tablet is a combination medicine that contains Levocetirizine and Montelukast. It is a very effective and potent medication used in children to treat year-round allergic symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, itching, hives (itchy, painful eruptions that sting), etc. This is a widely used combination medicine in providing relief from blockage of the nose.

Monlevo Junior Tablet may cause some side effects like drowsiness, fever, rash, weakness, etc. However, these effects subside when your child adapts to this medicine. Consult your paediatrician if these symptoms persist for a long time or bother your child. Avoid giving this medicine if your child is allergic to it.

Monlevo Junior Tablet can be taken with or without food. Finish the entire course of treatment with Monlevo Junior Tablet, even if your child’s condition gets better after giving a few doses. If your child vomits within 30 minutes after taking this medicine, give the same dose.

Monlevo Junior Tablet should be used with caution in children with kidney or liver problems. Inform your doctor about other medicines of your child and also share the complete medical history including any problems related to heart, lung, blood disorders or birth defects as this information helps in deciding dose and planning overall treatment of your child.

What is it prescribed for?

Allergic rhinitis

Allergic rhinitis is a common condition that occurs due to swelling inside the nose as a response of the immune system to external factors like allergens. It is commonly called hay fever. The usual signs and symptoms of allergic rhinitis are stuffy or runny nose, itchy and watery eyes, sneezing and sometimes swelling in the eyes. Tablet is one of the best medicines used in treating symptoms of allergic rhinitis in children.

Asthma

Asthma is a condition in which your child’s airways become narrow and it leads to breathing difficulty. Tablet widen the airways and helps your child to breathe easily. It prevents the symptoms such as tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, wheezing, and coughing associated with asthma.

Allergic skin conditions

The symptoms of allergic skin conditions are hives (itchy, painful eruptions that sting), redness, rash, swelling and itching etc. These can be seen as a response of the immune system to allergens. Monlevo Junior Tablet is used to treat symptoms of allergic skin conditions in children.

Dosage

Missed Dose

If you missed giving a dose, give it as soon as you remember. If your child vomits within 30 minutes after taking Monlevo Junior Tablet give the same dose again. Skip the missed dose if it is time for the next dose.

Overdose

Never give more than the prescribed dose to your child. Consult your doctor if you suspect that you might have given an overdose of Monlevo Junior Tablet.

General Instructions

Monlevo Junior Tablet can be taken with or without food, as directed by your physician. Do not give more than the prescribed dose. Ensure that the course of treatment is completed. Do not stop the use of tablet without consulting your doctor.

Store Monlevo Junior Tablet at room temperature protected away from heat. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not use it after the expiry date. Ensure that unused medicine is disposed of properly.

Tablet is not to be mixed with any other cold and flu medicine. Follow the instructions given on the label.

How it works

Levocetirizine blocks the action of a chemical substance (histamine) produced by the body that is responsible for causing allergic symptoms. Montelukast reduces the response of certain specific chemicals (leukotrienes) that causes swelling in the airways and the nose. Thus, the combination is effective in treating allergic symptoms in your child.

Acute asthma

Monlevo Junior Tablet can prevent asthma, but it is not effective in treating acute or severe asthmatic episodes.

Behaviour and mood changes

Monlevo Junior Tablet may cause changes in behaviour and mood. Symptoms such as agitation, depression, irritability, anxiety, etc., should be reported to your doctor immediately.

CAUTION
Monlevo Junior Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, use of tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.

Monlevo Junior Tablet is safe to use in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustment of tablet is recommended.
However, consult your child’s doctor in case of severe liver disease.
