WHAT IS NIKORAN OD 10MG?

NIKORAN OD 10MG contains Nicorandil which belongs to a group of medicines called ?potassium channel activators?

WHAT NIKORAN OD 10MG IS USED FOR?

NIKORAN OD 10MG is used to prevent or reduce painful signs (angina pectoris) of your heart disease and is used in adults who cannot take heart medicines called beta-blockers or calcium antagonists
It works by increasing the blood flow through the blood vessels of the heart
It improves the blood and oxygen supply of your heart muscle and reduces its workload

WARNING & PRECAUTION:

TALK TO DOCTOR

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

Are allergic to nicorandil or any other of its ingredients
Have severe low blood pressure (?hypotension?)
Have heart problems such as cardiogenic shock or left ventricular failure or heart failure
Have low blood volume
Have a build-up of fluid in the lungs (?pulmonary oedema?)
Suffer from red, itchy, swollen or watery eyes
Suffer from ulcers in your mouth, stomach, guts (small and large) or back passage. These may cause blood in your stools or vomit, a fistula
Have low blood potassium levels
Have kidney problems
Have a genetic condition called ?glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency?

INTERACTIONS:

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

Such as sildenafil, tadalafil or vardenafil for erectile dysfunction
Riociguat to treat ?pulmonary hypertension?
Medicines to treat high blood pressure
Medicines that increase blood potassium levels
Dapoxetine a medicine used to treat premature ejaculation
Medicines for inflammation such as ibuprofen
Medicines for depression
Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid)

DIRECTIONS & FOR USE:

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
The recommended dose is 10mg, twice a day
In case you get headaches, your doctor may give you a lower dose of 5mg, twice a day for the first 2 to 7 days
Your doctor may increase your dose up to 20mg, twice a day. This will depend on your needs, response and tolerance to treatment

If you take more NIKORAN OD 10MG

If you take more NIKORAN OD 10MG than you should or a child swallows any of the tablets, talk to a doctor or go to hospital straight away

If you forget to take NIKORAN OD 10MG

If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking NIKORAN OD 10MG

Do not stop taking this medicine before consulting your doctor

PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

Nikoran OD 10 Tablet PR is a medicine used to prevent and treat heart-related chest pain (angina). It is usually prescribed when other heart medicines are either not suitable or have not worked.

It reduces the risk of an angina attack by widening blood vessels and improving blood flow to the heart.

Nikoran OD 10 Tablet PR may be taken with or without food. It should be swallowed whole with water. Take this medicine regularly and at about the same time(s) each day.
Your doctor will decide the dose and how often you should take it.

This may change from time to time depending on how well it is working. Do not stop taking it without talking to our doctor as sudden withdrawal may cause your chest pain to come back.

most common side effect

The most common side effect of this medicine is headache, especially during the first few days of treatment. This usually improves within a week.

However, drinking plenty of fluids and avoiding alcohol may help. Other common side effects include dizziness or weakness, nausea, and flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck, and trunk).
Talk to your doctor if these bother you or do not go away.

Nikoran OD 10 Tablet PR may not be suitable for some people. Inform your doctor if you have a history of low blood pressure or heart failure.

Also let your doctor know about all other medications that you are using as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

You should not take any medicines for erectile dysfunction with this medicine. Nikoran OD 10 Tablet PR is not usually recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Nikoran OD 10 Tablet PR helps in prevention as well as treatment of angina. Angina is a chest pain that is usually caused by the narrowing of the blood vessels which supply your heart.
This means your heart does not get enough oxygen.

Nikoran OD 10 Tablet PR relaxes and widens the blood vessels so more blood (and oxygen) gets to your heart.

This reduces the pain and discomfort that angina causes thereby improving your ability to exercise and go about your daily life more easily.

This medicine needs to be taken regularly to be effective so keep taking it even if you are not having any angina symptoms.

Pregnancy

Breast feeding

Driving

Tablet PR may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

Liver

WHAT IF YOU FORGET TO TAKE NIKORAN TABLET PR?

If you miss a dose of Nikoran OD 10 Tablet PR, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
