SYSRET 20 MG contains Isotretinoin which belongs to a group of medicines known as retinoids which is used to treat skin problems. Isotretinoin used to treat severe nodular acne.
It is only used in patients whose acne has not responded to other treatments.
It works by shrinking the oil, sebaceous, glands in the skin.

This reduces the amount of oil that is produced naturally by skin and also kills the bacteria that cause acne and relieves redness and soreness.

Severe nodular acne is the formation of red, swollen, tender lumps in the skin. If untreated it leads to permanent scars.
This medicine should be used in children and adolescents from 12 years of age only after puberty.

Dry skin:

Apply a non irritating lip balm (lip moisturizer) several times a day or whenever required. Use a non irritating lip balm with SPF 30 or higher before going outdoors.

Inform your doctor before taking this medicine, if you have,

• Increased levels of vitamin A in body (Hypervitaminosis A)
• High levels of cholesterol or triglycerides in blood
• Mental health problems (depression, aggressive tendencies or mood changes)
• Asthma
• Wear contact lenses
• Diabetes
• Bone loss or weak bones
• Anorexia nervosa (where people eat too little)

INTERACTIONS:

Talk to your doctor, if you are taking,

• Tetracyclines antibiotics
• Vitamin A supplements
• Progestin-only birth control pills (mini-pills)
• Medicines used to prevent epilepsy or seizures (e.g. phenytoin)
• Medicines used to treat mental problems (e.g. st John’s wort)
